Over a year ago, I wrote a piece on trends driving CPG Commerce Growth that I feel needs to be revisited. The catalyst for circling back on this topic comes from a recent report published by Jumpstart related to the “CPG eCommerce Landscape." My primary theme in the original blogs was three-fold: sell direct, collaborate with retailers and sell via marketplaces. Those recommendations still hold, but Jumpstart’s report highlights through hard facts how CPG brands should optimize these recommendations. Bottomline, they highlighted CPG purchases online have grown 22% since 2017, but most of that growth occurred in 2018. Year-over-year growth in 2019 to date has slowed to around 3%. This pushes a strategy to balance CPG sales for D2C, through retailers, and marketplaces. Let’s give a little context first on what I recommended initially.
In early 2019, our team met to consider which new Sitecore Experience Commerce innovations would be both technically feasible and valuable to companies. I am honored to share our recent contributions that have been spearheaded by several ecommerce visionaries on our XCentium team including Amrit Raj (Founder and Partner), Kautilya Prasad (Director), Balaji Thirumeninathan (Senior Project Manager) and Srikanth Kondapally (Architect).
Many online shops allow for the use of coupons and promotion codes.
Some Sitecore Experience Commerce shops even allow the customer to use a promo code and pay for the order at a later date.
But what happens if the promotion is set to expire before the customer pays the balance on the order?
In this case, it would be satisfying for the customer to be alerted that the promo will be expiring soon, and if payment isn’t received by the expiration date, the promo will be removed from the order.

Sitecore Commerce 9 is delivered with a set of built-in Promotion Qualifications and Benefits.
Qualifications are the conditions you set on a promotion that need to be met for the promotion benefits to be applied to a shopper's order.
Benefits are the possible discounts you select to apply to a promotion. The benefits are applied to a customer's order when the qualification conditions for the promotion are met
