Introduction
Access your company data and applications no matter where you are. Reduce the costs of management and maintenance. Build cross-platform connectivity. Consider migrating to Sitecore XM Cloud.
Why Migrate
Cloud-based solutions, like XM Cloud, are powered by third-party servers, while traditional On-Premise Solutions are run on in-house infrastructure, powered by computer servers living within a local area network.
The disadvantages of an On-Premise Solution are twofold: cost and scalability. It takes a major investment to continue to maintain rapid growth using an On-Premise Solution. Cloud Solutions, allows for unprecedented accessibility while keeping costs manageable.
Already on Sitecore XP/XM 10.x? Embrace a composable architecture!
XM Cloud’s natively composable CMS platform, removes the responsibility of hosting and operations. Tools are easily customed to best suit your business with plug-and-play capabilities. Bring your own email manager, CRM, or recommendation engine and swap out tools and tech without significantly affecting the rest of your system.
Moving your CMS to the cloud can help your company improve productivity and deliver more engaging content experiences for your customers across different channels, and XM Cloud is designed to support your current investments and future growth.
What is Sitecore XM Cloud
Sitecore Experience Manager Cloud (XM Cloud) is a fully managed self-service deployment platform that re-imagines content management with impact for every team. XM Cloud addresses the challenges between using traditional monolithic CMS and modern headless CMS--combining the advantages of both worlds! Allowing a faster build using headless architecture while still giving marketers the freedom to design the front-end experience.

- Simplified Authoring Experience: Sitecore replaced their Experience Editor with Sitecore Pages in XM Cloud. Sitecore Pages uses streamlined authoring experience with out of the box templates and components.
Choosing a Candidate
Not all projects are made equal—and neither are all migrations.
Of course, if you are already on Sitecore XP/XM 10.x migration is comparatively simple. If your current solution is using Sitecore 9.x or lower version, you may need a detailed assessment and roadmap for an XM cloud migration. This may include migration to Sitecore 10.x and removing technical dependencies before moving to XM Cloud. Furthermore, an already existing headless architecture will further boost the migration candidate.
Once we’ve roughly tracked out a path towards migration, we can dive deeper into the migration planning process.
