The Directors Guild of America is an entertainment guild representing film and television directors in the United States and internationally. It advocates for its members and supports their creative and professional work across the industry.
 

Challenge

The existing DGA.org and DirectorsGuildFoundation.org websites were built on an older version of Sitecore, making them difficult to scale and maintain. The organization needed a modern, cloud-based platform that could support both sites without disrupting existing functionality. Search performance and flexibility also needed improvement. At the same time, DGA had to protect sensitive member data and maintain integrations with internal systems.
 

Solution

XCentium led the replatform to SitecoreAI. The team began with discovery and planning, working with DGA to define dependencies, align priorities, and translate requirements into user stories. This created a clear development path and supported ongoing collaboration.
 
Both sites were rebuilt on Next.js. The team replicated the existing user experience using Tailwind CSS while modernizing the front-end architecture. Core functionality was preserved, including member portal features, forms, and content workflows.
 
Search was rebuilt using Sitecore Search. Existing behavior and facets were recreated to match the current experience while allowing for future improvements. Content components were also rebuilt in SitecoreAI to support a more scalable and maintainable content model.
 
The platform was configured across environments, with Netlify used for hosting and deployment. XCentium handled both scripted and manual migration from Sitecore 8.2 to SitecoreAI to ensure content integrity. Integrations with DGA’s Take 2 APIs and key import processes were reimplemented, with close coordination on security requirements.

Outcomes

DGA now operates on a modern, cloud-based platform that supports both sites with greater flexibility and scalability. The new architecture simplifies deployment and improves long-term maintainability while preserving the user experience.
 

The organization is better positioned to manage content, evolve search, and support future enhancements without the constraints of the legacy platform.
