Tektronix, Inc., known as Tek, is a leading test and measurement company. It designs and manufactures devices and solutions used by engineers and technical teams, including oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and mobile and video test protocol equipment.

Challenge

Tektronix needed to establish the first Sitecore instance hosted behind the Great Firewall of China. The company had used Drupal globally for more than a decade, but needed a platform better suited to commerce and regional digital operations in China. The solution had to address China’s internet restrictions, local infrastructure requirements, Internet Content Provider compliance, and GDPR requirements in Europe while keeping the digital experience reliable for users.

Solution

XCentium helped Tektronix move to Sitecore Commerce for the Chinese market. The platform was hosted on Azure Mooncake, the China-based Azure platform, to support China’s regulatory and infrastructure requirements.

The solution used a smart architecture across Sitecore, Azure, and related technologies to support performance and scalability behind the Great Firewall. It was designed to help Tektronix host and manage regional websites while staying aligned with local compliance needs.

XCentium also integrated the platform with Tektronix’s internal business systems. These included marketing automation, customer relationship management, translation management, personalization systems, and cloud hosting. The team also integrated WeChat to support commerce-driven transactions in China.

Outcomes

Tektronix gained a Sitecore platform built for the needs of the Chinese market. The solution supported regional website hosting, local compliance requirements, and commerce capabilities in a highly regulated digital environment.

The new platform also gave non-technical content owners more control over content and page layouts. This helped streamline content creation and updates while supporting integrations across Tektronix’s broader digital ecosystem.
